D–E/VS1+ rows are design-desk estimates: (setting + IGI-certified center + insured shipping) × 3.15, shown as a ±5% range, using a real 14K three-stone setting quote with small accent side stones. Larger matched side diamonds, 18K gold and platinum are quoted on your specs. The D–E/VS1+ row comes from our ring price estimator.
Three-stone vs solitaire vs hidden halo
| 2.5ct center, D–E/VS1+, 14K | Complete ring | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Solitaire | $2,400–$2,650 | Desk estimate |
| Hidden halo | $2,700–$3,000 | Desk estimate |
| Three stone | $2,875–$3,175 | Desk estimate |
| Pavé band | $3,300–$3,650 | Desk estimate |
On our estimates, adding two side stones costs about $450–$525 more than a solitaire with the same center. Most of a three-stone ring's price is still the center diamond, so center size and grade move the total more than the side stones do. Side stone choices
- Pear or round side stones: the classic look; pears point toward the center and add length.
- Trapezoid, baguette or half-moon: cleaner lines next to an emerald, radiant or cushion center.
- Colored side stones: sapphires or birthstones, priced on your specs.
- A family stone: an heirloom diamond can be one of the three; see resetting an heirloom diamond.
