What a halo costs — and what it saves

A full halo adds about $320 to a build. In exchange it can make a center stone read up to half a carat larger. A 3.5ct pear with halo runs roughly $3,300–$3,800 all-in; a 3.0ct round in D/VS1 with halo in 18K roughly $3,175–$3,650.

If maximum visual size per dollar is the goal, a halo on a slightly smaller center stone almost always beats a bare solitaire at the same budget.

Halo vs hidden halo

A full halo is visible from above and frames the stone. A hidden halo sits underneath, invisible from the top, and costs less (about $180). Full halo for maximum size; hidden halo if she wants the ring to read as a clean solitaire.
